Over the weekend, Longwood baseball won their first Big Southseries of the year! The Lancers took the bookends over UNCAsheville; game one was tied 1-1 going into the 8th, whenLongwood put up three runs in the bottom half of the inning totake the 4-1 win; Lancers lost by one run in game two (3-2); theteam showed how consistent their offense can be in the rubbermatch, scoring runs in four different innings to secure the 8-4victory. 

 

Lancer softball also win their conference series against Charleston Southern this weekend, two games to one. Lancer softball won a
defense heavy game one (1-0), then lost an offense heavy game
two (6-5), and went on to win their own Sunday rubber match (8-
3). Longwood softball has clinched the two seed in the Big South
Championships which will be May 9th through the 11th.

Hampden-Sydney golf is competing in the ODAC Golf Championship
this week. The festivities began yesterday with round one. Tiger’s
come into the championship ranked 21 in the nation, and they had
a rocky start to competition. The team finished round one in sixth
place with freshman, Jack Barnes, tied for fourth in the individual
standings. The 54-hole championship will continue today and
tomorrow at The Green Course at Golden Horseshoe Golf Club in
Williamsburg.

Hampden-Sydney baseball ended their season on Saturday as they
split a double header against Bridgewater. Tiger baseball fell out of
playoff contention after their 5-3 loss in game one, but they made
their final game one to remember as they put up ten runs to take
the win in game two (10-4). 

 

And Hampden-Sydney lacrosse will host their round one matchup
of the ODAC Lacrosse Championship against rival Randolph-Macon.
That game is tomorrow at 4:30 in Lewis C. Everett Stadium.
