Amos, V. B., Jr.

V. B. Amos, Jr., of Keysville, checked into Heaven Tuesday, June 13th. In lieu of a funeral, there will be a bluegrass get together with some breaking of bread at a later date. Also, in remembrance of him, donations to the local SPCA would be appreciated. Browning-Duffer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Bolton, Wayne Lebanon

Wayne Lebanon Bolton, age 81, of Green Bay died on June 15th. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Puckett Funeral Home of Farmville.

Cullom, Nancy Farley

Nancy Fareey Cullom, age 70, of Manassas, died on June 19th. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Puckett Funeral Home of Farmville

Goodman, Mary

A funeral service for Mrs. Mary Goodman of Amelia will be held Friday at 1:00 p.m. from Little Union Baptist Church, Amelia, with interment in the church cemetery. Michael W. Hawkes Funeral Home in Amelia is in charge of arrangements.

Jamerson, Marie Bailey

Marie Bailey Jamerson of Farmville died Friday, June 9th. Service is private. Announced by Shorter Funeral Home of Farmville.

Mason, Willie Forest

Willie Forest Mason, age 86 of Farmville, died on June 17th. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 21st, at 11 a.m., at the chapel of Puckett Funeral Home in Farmville. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of the service.

Redd, Raymond

Raymond Redd, age 65, of Meherin died on Wednesday, May 31st, in Richmond. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. from the Forest Baptist Church in Meherrin with interment in the church cemetery with full military rites. Carl U. Eggleston Funeral Establishment of Farmville is serving the family.

 

 

Weinberg, Howard, G.

Howard G. Weinberg, 64, of Richmond, died on June 18th. He was the son of the late Joseph A. Weinberg. He is survived by his mother, Charlotte Bloom Weinberg, brothers, Jeffrey and Marc, sister Marcia “Marcie”, nephew Eric and nieces, Alison, Rachel, and Emily. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, at the chapel of Richmond Beth-El Cemetery, at Forest Lawn (4000 Pilots Lane, Richmond, VA) Donations should be made to the American Heart Association or Virginia Holocaust Museum. Bliley’s Funeral Home of Richmond is in charge of arrangements.

 

Wilson, Samuel Vaughan, Lieutenant General Retired

Samuel Vaughan Wilson, 93, affectionately known as “General Sam,” died Saturday, June 10th, of lung cancer in Rice, Virginia. He was predeceased by his parents, Helen Vaughan and Jasper D. Wilson; his brothers John D. and William L.; his sister Virginia  W. Druen; and by his wife Brenda Downing Wilson. He is survived by his brother James. B. Wilson; his sons Samuel V. Wilson, Jr., (Jane Carol), Jackson B. Wilson (Jane), David J. M. Wilson, and William W. Tennis II; by his daughters Susan V. Wilson and Frances Gwin Tennis (Jason); and by his wife, Virginia H. Wilson. A memorial service for General Sam will be held at College Church, Hampden-Sydney College, June 23rd, at 1:00 p.m. The family asks that donations in his memory be made to the Samuel V.
